It was there that I began to stay, more and more, moving into a prayer state with such ease and longevity that it surprised me.

I was led there. For I had never been a person given to much meditation, my impatience and impulse to act always making simple prayer an impossible thing for me to do. Yet sitting in the shower of an evening waterfall, the dying sunlight lancing peace into me, I knew suddenly that prayer is not something we do, or plan, or engage in with an effort: it is the water in which we swim, all the time, a core reality that we have forgotten, or rather been made to forget, in the make-believe of our conscious rationality. It is an avenue to a source.

Belief in the paranormal has been around for centuries if not thousands of years, deeply connected with theology, philosophy, and even spirituality. The prefix “Para” simply means “beyond”, so in essence, when one makes statements of the paranormal variety it shouldn’t automatically be seen in a blanket or derogatory fashion, but merely implying something “beyond the normal”.

How many of us have had “beyond the norm” experiences in our own lives on at least one occasion? I’m sure quite a few hands just went up. If not, don’t fret, the following guideline might provide a little understanding regarding the study of metaphysics and psychic phenomenon, possibly even helping readers discover greater potentials in their own lives.

In the Beginning

Born Leningrad in the mid 1920's she was originally known as Nelya Mikhailova (her maiden name) most however, knew her as Nina Kulagina. Because she was only 12 when the Nazis invaded Leningrad, a lot of children then joined the miltary, she became a radio operator in a Russian tank regiment. In 1963 she came to the attention of Leonid L Vasiliev, a physiologist and parapsychologist he did some initial tests with her.

Vasiliev was checking groups of people for “Dermo Optic Vision” which was the ability to “feel” certain colours. Kulagina performed well in the initial tests.Vasiiliev however unfortunately died later in 1966.Zdenek Rejdak a scientist at the Prague Military Institute took his place, he and others were to perform many experiments with Kulagina in the coming years.
